6. June 2010 by Eve Peach.
On this hot Saturday afternoon in June my family and I drove across town to Cheekwood Botanical Gardens and Museum of Art to check out the newest outdoor sculptures by glass maker and installation artist Dale Chihuly. Dale Chihuly has taken the art of glassblowing to a higher level by pulling teams of master glassblowers to create large scale outdoor and indoor vibrantly colored installations. His work sets beautifully amongst the botanical gardens found at Cheekwood. It was a wonderful way to spend a sunny day outdoors in nature. This exhibit is also open on Thursday and Friday nights where his installations are transformed by light. Might have to go back for that experience!

This morning my friend forwarded an article about artist Ran Hwang’s installations made from thousands of buttons (click on name to read article.) I love his work so much I wanted to share. I have always wanted to incorporate buttons into my soft sculptures and/or installations. I think I have found the inspiration to push the ideas I have experimented with in the past.
